Energy

The German energy transition ("Energiewende") has made the German energy law one of the most exciting, dynamic and future-relevant areas of law. Technical progress, new business models and the ongoing development of the regulatory framework shape the energy sector. Successful legal advice therefore requires not only excellent legal knowledge and legal skills, but also industry knowledge and entrepreneurial understanding. We have these skills and passion for the success of our clients.

We have been advising for more than ten years on numerous offshore wind energy projects in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea, whether in the project development phase, in proceedings before the competent authorities (German Federal Network Agency – BNetzA, German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency – BSH) and in transactions. We know and accompany the German offshore wind industry since its industrial beginnings. We are therefore also involved in landmark proceedings before courts in this area. We have also been advising on onshore wind energy, solar and geothermal projects for a long time.

Public law

Public law is more than the classic ones such as building law and environmental law. At least as high demands on the legal advice, for example, the law of the public/municipal companies, including the law of the public-law institutions or the public liability law. Due to the comparatively low regulatory density, legal creativity and our experience in this area are in particular demand.

Real estate

Our practice also includes real estate law with its specific areas such as project development and transaction advice. Both areas require an approach integrating public law and civil law issues: In project development, the focus is typically on the issue of obtaining the permits required for the construction and operation of the project, to which the design of the purchase and/or lease agreements must be aligned. In addition, urban planning or other public-law contracts are often required. In the case of transaction advice, building law and environmental law issues play an important role, both in the context of due diligence and in the drafting of contractual warranty clauses.
